Steps Towards Salvation and Eternal Life
We are all sinners.
We all start toward our salvation from the same place of sinfulness.
Steps to Salvation:
1. Hearing the Word of God
2. Belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God
3. Repentance of our Sins
4. Confession that we are a sinner
5. Baptism to bury our sins and receive the Holy Spirit
Isaiah 53:6
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
Romans 3:10
As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one;
Romans 3:23
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Why be Saved?
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 4::2,3
2
If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about--but not before God. 3 What does the Scripture say? "Abrahambelieved God, and it was credited to him as righteousness."
We are saved through grace, and our purpose is and has always been to do good works.
Ephesians 2:8-10
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- 9 not by
works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Our Salvation is a gift from God.
Acts 16:30,31
30 He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
31 They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household."
John 3:16
16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Acts 10:43
43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."
Ephesians 2:4,5
4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved.
Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
John 5:24
24 "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.
John 1:12
12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-- 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God
.
Only our belief in Jesus Christ will save us...no other.
Acts 4:12
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
Romans 5:8
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
I Peter 2:24
24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
Our belief needs to be confessed.
Romans 10:9,10
9
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is withyour heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
A prayer of forgiveness and acceptance of Jesus Christ as our personal savior.
Dear Heavenly Father:
I know that I am a sinner. I humbly bow before you now and ask for your forgiveness of my sins so that I might walk with you in a newness of life.
I believe with all my heart that Jesus Christ is your Son and died for my sins. I know that by accepting and confessing Christ as my personal savior I will have everlasting life.
Thank you for this wonderful gift and please help me to grow in your spirit from this point and for the rest of my life.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Our baptism is an act of obedience and a witness to God's word.
Romans 6:4
4 We were therefore
buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
We are to testify to others why we have hope in our lives.
I Peter 3:13
13 Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? 14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened." 15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. 17 It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. 18 For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, 19 through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison 20 who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, 21 and this water symbolizes
baptism that now saves you also--not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand--with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.
The Great Commission
Mark 16:15
15 He said to them, "Go into
all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
In our daily walk with God, we have the assurance that because of our personal relationship with Christ, our prayers are heard.
I John 5:12-15
12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us--whatever we ask--we know that we have what we asked of him.
Once saved, our relationship with Christ will endure all things.
Romans 8:38-39
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Salvation is as vital to our lives as breathing air. Only through our walk with Christ will we be able to enjoy everlasting life and know the richness and joy that God has planned for our Christian lives.
Today is the best day to start living your obedience to God and receiving the blessings that he has in store for you.
